Our vision – what we do
Our vision is to provide an inclusive space where people of all ages and skill levels are welcomed. A friendly atmosphere invites a safe space for people to learn new moves, improve confidence, ability & fitness and also get to know lots of great new friends!
We have over 20 years’ experience in running classes, workshops and performances with both kids and adults. Our dancers have performed at festivals like the Bristol Harbour Festival and for the BBC and we’ve had a lot of fun along the way! Some of our kids have gone on to have great careers in dance, but whatever your dance goals, we’re here to support you at every step.
Our speciality is street dance, but our teachers can work in a range of styles. Whether you are a street dancer, a ballroom dancer or a bedroom dancer, or you don’t dance at all, come and check out Funk It Up, and take home some of dances’ most slammin’ moves.
Our people
Our Principal started Funk it Up Dance School with a vision of making street dance accessible, friendly and fun, and still loves to teach.
We work with a range of experienced teachers in the Bristol and South West area. They can teach a range of styles from street and hip-hop to commercial and contemporary. Many have worked on TV and on the stage, won dance competitions, and trained other professional dancers!
All our teachers are fully insured and DBS checked.
