We offer dance workshops for:

  • PE
  • PPA
  • Activity weeks
  • Enrichment
  • After school clubs
  • To go towards performances for STAGES and other events

We can tailor a session to fit your needs, our teachers, some of whom have over 10 years’ experience in working with kids, can get your pupils ready for a performance, a great goal for them at the end of the workshop.

We can also send teachers out to do demos at Bristol school assemblies if you want to gauge interest before booking a workshop.

Funk It Up Dance has been providing various dance opportunities within schools across Bristol for the past 16 years. Our teachers can provide PE and PPA, classes for a range of ages and abilities.
We are well known for our Street Dance style classes, but we also do a range of cross cultural and national curriculum based classes. These include history themed classes such as The Romans, The Tudors, The Swinging Sixties and various cultural dances such as Bollywood and African to name but a few. We are more than happy to tailor dances to many subjects and your specific needs so please do enquire.

We have found that children improve in health,  fitness,  confidence and team building skills through regular attendance. Regular dancing provides opportunities for children to discover & develop their own creative expression.

We hold regular showcases, providing an opportunity for children to experience performance in a safe, supportive environment.  Our recent Winter Showcase really highlighted how much the children have learned, as their skill level and confidence really shone this year.

Street Dance is a cool way to keep fit, improve co-ordination and flexibility and get used to being in the spotlight through performance.

Kids have a chance to learn from professional dancers, some of whom have worked on TV, won competitions, and trained other dancers.

Here are some recent quotes from our participants:

“I think it helps me be less shy showing people my dance.
My dream is to be in musicals.”
Claire aged 9

When asked about their goals one pupil said:

To teach & inspire young people through dance.”
Alison aged 11

We’ve also seen a increase in attendance with several of our children now attending up to 3 classes. This has come from the quality and dedication of our teachers who are all DBS checked, insured and go through a ‘child protection check list’. We have ‘live’ policies in place that ensure we work to the highest level and are fully accountable.

As the Principal, I believe strongly in the school’s ability to truly enhance children’s aptitude to apply, study and achieve. I would love the opportunity to tell you more and for your school to experience our classes. We are offering a free taster dance lesson to any school that would like to see how we work.
